No one seems to know just why there are so few hotels and guest houses in Porthmadog itself. But there's plenty within a short distance, including loads in Criccieth. Here's a few places that we've made contact with and their approximate distance to the railway......
Abereistedd, Criccieth. 5.6 miles. The publicity says you'll get a warm welcome and wonderful views
Bodlondeb Hotel, Criccieth. 5 miles. Located in a prime position with panoramic views of Cardigan Bay and the Meirioneth Mountains in the distance
Cefn Uchaf Guest House, Garndolbenmaen. 6.3 miles. Farm guest house set in beautiful open countryside overlooking the timeless splendour of Snowdonia's Cwm Pennant Valley
Godre'r Graig, Tremadog. 1 mile. On the edge of the village overlooking the open fields of the Lleyn Peninsula
Gwynfryn Farm Cottages, Llanbedr. 13.3 miles. Self-catering cottages and bed & breakfast accommodation. Set amongst 20 acres of fields and peaceful woodland gardens within the Snowdonia National Park.
Min-y-Gaer, Criccieth. 5 miles. Ten bedroomed, family run guest accommodation which is conveniently situated close to the amenities within the town.
Treforris,Porthmadog. 0.7 miles. Also known as "Mrs Dickinson's" It's right at the top of Porthmadog, looking down on the town, with spectacular views over the mountains. Very reasonably priced, but no en suite rooms. Unfortunately, no website but please call 01766 512853 for further details.
